Ross Allan Driving School: Terms & Conditions
Important: Please contact the school to confirm availability before making any online payments.

1. Advance Payment & Security Deposit
To ensure schedule stability and service continuity, we operate a Rolling Deposit system for all students.

-
Initial Payment: Prior to or on the first lesson, a double payment is required. This covers:

-
The fee for your first scheduled lesson.
-
A Security Deposit (equal to the price of one standard lesson) which is held on your account.

-
The Payment Cycle: At the conclusion of each lesson, the student must pay for the following week’s lesson. This ensures the Security Deposit remains untouched and your next slot is fully secured.

-
Final Lesson: The Security Deposit will be used towards payment for your final lesson (e.g., the hour before your driving test).

-
Replenishing the Deposit: If the deposit is used to cover a late cancellation (see Section 2), no further lessons will be conducted until the deposit has been replenished to the full amount.

2. Cancellation Policy
-
48-Hour Notice: A strict minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.

-
Late Cancellations: If less than 48 hours' notice is provided, the Security Deposit will be forfeited to cover the lost lesson time.

-
No Shows: Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without notice will result in the immediate forfeiture of the Security Deposit.

-
Applicability: This policy is applied consistently to all students to ensure fairness and diary stability. It applies to all cancellations regardless of the circumstances.

3. Lesson Bookings & Consistency
-
Weekly Lessons: Priority and "Permanent Time Slots" are allocated to students who commit to a minimum of one lesson per week.

-
Ad-hoc/Fortnightly Lessons: We do not offer guaranteed permanent slots for fortnightly or irregular lessons. These are booked based on weekly availability and still require a Security Deposit to be held on account.

-
Refunds: Any remaining credit, including the Security Deposit, will be refunded if a student chooses to end their tuition, provided the 48 hour notice period is respected for the final booking.

-
Block Bookings: For block-booking refunds, completed lessons will be recalculated at the full standard hourly rate before the remaining balance is returned.

4. Licence, Legal & Health
-
Licence: Students must hold a valid provisional, full UK, or valid international/European licence, to be presented at the first lesson.

-
Eyesight: Students must meet the legal requirement of reading a number plate from 20.5 meters.

-
Fitness to Drive: Students must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that impairs driving. The instructor reserves the right to terminate a lesson if impairment is suspected; the full fee will apply.

-
Legal Liability: The student is legally responsible for any traffic penalties incurred while driving.

5. Lesson Etiquette
-
Conduct: Intimidation, foul language, or inappropriate behavior will result in immediate termination of the lesson and forfeiture of the fee.

-
Readiness: Students must wear suitable footwear and maintain professional personal hygiene.

-
Environment: Mobile phones must be silenced. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in or around the tuition vehicle.

6. Driving Tests
-
Standard of Readiness: The use of the tuition vehicle for a test is at the instructor's discretion. We reserve the right to withhold the vehicle if the student is not at the required safety standard.

-
Private Practice: Students pausing professional lessons for private practice cannot be guaranteed the retention of their slot or the use of the car for a test without a successful 'Mock Test' assessment.

-
Liability: The instructor is not liable for damages or insurance excess costs resulting from actions taken during the driving test.

7. Privacy Policy (GDPR)
-
Data Usage: We collect contact details solely for tuition and billing purposes.

-
Retention: Customer data is retained for the duration of the relationship plus 6 years for accounting purposes.
